Billing & Refunds

Fair billing, no surprises.

One honest price, billed plainly. Here's how billing, renewals and refunds work — and the rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that we can't and won't take away.

§Who we are

Anfon is operated by The IT Dept Pty Ltd (ABN 12 665 405 505), based on the NSW Central Coast, Australia. When this page says "we", "us" or "our", that's who we mean.

§Pricing

Anfon comes in three plans, all in AUD: Personal ($5/month or $50/year), Family ($10/month or $100/year, unlimited household mailboxes), and Business (flat org pricing from $30/month — never per-seat). Every plan includes your first domain, unlimited aliases, and you can cancel anytime. The current plans and what's in each are on our pricing page.

§Billing cycle & auto-renewal

You're billed up front for your chosen cycle — monthly or annually — and the subscription auto-renews at the end of each period until you cancel. We email you a receipt each time. Annual is simply two months cheaper than paying monthly.

§How to cancel

Cancelling is self-serve — do it any time from your account settings. If you get stuck, email hello@theitdept.au and we'll sort it; no retention maze, no "are you sure" gauntlet.

When you cancel:

  • You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
  • The subscription then stops renewing.
  • You keep your domain — it's registered to you and you can transfer it away whenever you like.

§Your Australian Consumer Law rights

These rights can't be waived. Under the Australian Consumer Law you're always entitled to a remedy if the service has a major failure or isn't as described — and nothing on this page limits that.

For a major failure you can choose a refund or to keep the service and get compensation for the drop in value. For problems that can be put right, we'll fix them within a reasonable time. These rights apply on top of anything else below.

§Our refund approach

We try to be reasonable. If something's genuinely broken on our end, we'll fix it — and if we can't, we'll refund you fairly. Beyond that:

  • Change of mind on a month already used isn't generally refunded — you've had the service for that period.
  • Annual plans cancelled early — we'll take a fair, plain view. As a goodwill matter we'll usually refund the unused full months on a pro-rata basis (less any domain cost already incurred), even though we're not strictly required to. If there's been a major failure, your ACL rights above apply regardless.

None of this limits the consumer guarantees — they always come first.

§Domains

Honest heads-up: domain registration fees are largely non-refundable once the domain is registered. That's because the registry charges us at the moment of registration or renewal, and we can't claw that back. The upside is simple — the domain is yours. If you leave, you keep it and can transfer it to any other provider.

§Failed payments & dunning

If a payment fails, we won't just cut you off. We'll retry the charge and email you so you can update your card. We only suspend after we've given you notice and a fair chance to fix it.

§Price changes

If we ever change the price, we'll give you advance notice before it applies to your next renewal — and you're free to cancel before the new price takes effect if it's not for you.

§Disputes & chargebacks

If something looks wrong on your bill, talk to us first at hello@theitdept.au — we read our own mail and we'll almost always sort it faster than a chargeback would. Raising a chargeback before contacting us can get the account suspended while the bank investigates, which helps no one.

§GST

All prices are in AUD and include GST where applicable. Your receipts show the GST component so they work as tax invoices.
